Website down

My website is down for now so I am directing traffic here. The Detective One has been in the top 100 for Science Fiction at both Amazon.com and UK. It is still free for another 3 days!

My The Detective One jokes for Twitter have so far been:-

The Detective One
What Sid Called Arthur in the fifth book = The Defective One
The Sherlock Holmes clone is = The Deductive One
Marvin the paranoid android = The Dejected One
A frog on a table in a science lab = The Dissected One
The first pronouncement banning an activity remembered correctly by Kryton = The Directive: One
After she had enrolled she found out her course was too hard = The Delective One
Meryl Streep was this in the Iron Lady = The Directed One

Any more? If they're any good I'll twitter them!

Coffee at Sainsbury's

I finished the 11th chapter of The Detective One. Planned some of chapter 12. Typed in about 600 words of chapter 11. On Wattpad people are reading The Crying Pennant sample, TDO, 6cndluo, VAE and The Inventor as well as the Time War.

Chapter 11

Managed to finish chapter 10 yesterday and started on chapter 11. Did about another 1,000 words today of chapter 11. Just need to fit a few more jokes in. Saw somebody yesterday who went to Weightwatchers with me. Told her my Arthur clone joke from the second book and she didn't laugh. However I told my Mother and Father-in-law my Crying Pennant one liners that I put out on Twitter and they both laughed at some of them! So I'll repeat them here:-

The Crying Pennant
A man who weeps while he' s repenting = The Crying Penance
A sad half ant/half writing implement = The Crying Pen Ant
Penn sobbing without Teller but a new man = The Crying Penn and?
Town in Cornwall known for its sobbing trees = The Crying Penzance
A sad little man overly concerned with being formal and precise = The Crying Pedant

TDO

I should be able to write the other 300 words to finish chapter 10 of The Detective One. If I can continue to do 500 words a day at least I could be finished by next week. I want this to coincide with the end of the free stuff on Wattpad. I am thinking to put it on Amazon for free for 5 days and get a big boost to sales initially. I will use the front cover I did for Wattpad to save time.

I got 143 downloads of The Inky Blackness from Amazon. I put a sample of The Crying Pennant in it but too late for most of the downloaders.

Malton

At Hope Central in Malton I wrote about 620 words of chapter 9. It was about the characters setting fire to a shed to cause a diversion. As I finished it a fire engine sounding its siren went past!!! I think I have finished chapter 9 (at Sainsbury's in the evening, got a good joke for the end.)

Jack Higgins

I went to the White Rose shopping precinct in Leeds today. At Costa I saw a man looking at an iPad 2 so I told him about my e books. He said his uncle wrote books, war books. I asked him what his uncle's name was and he said "Jack Higgins."
I said I had heard of him, he said he had written 'The Eagle has Landed' etc..
I got a cup of coffee and did a bit of writing for about an hour then two older ladies sat down in front of me. I started a conversation and told them I wrote e books. One of them said her husband used to be a teacher who worked with somebody who used to write books under a pseudonym.
Guess who?
Jack Higgins!!!

P.S. while my wife was at her brothers garage, only a week after the previous event, she looked on the floor and found a book by itself. My brother-in-law usually only reads car mags. Guess what it was?
The Eagle Has Landed by Jack Higgins!!!

Still unable to sleep at night

Have finished chapter 6 of TDO and written about 800 words of chapter 7. Decided to write a piece of Tesla Punk for the Sci Fi anthology that Forbodden Planet are bringing out with Lulu. The trouble is though that I was only planning a short story of about 1,000 words. Other people are talking about 10 - 15,000 words!!! I'll finish it and see what they say.

Wrote a bit for VAE but then realised the action was supposed to be in the day and not at night, so I'll have to rewrite.
